In 2016 and 2017 I tried to make an exhibition featuring the work of Miyoko Ito happen. This is still something I am pursuing professionally. In re-thinking about Ito and her work I reached out to collectors and former galleries associated with her estate. I also went back to some studies that I had made years earlier – my own studious attempt to integrate her sense of form, gradient, surface, and mood into my aesthetic toolkit. This led to my first works done in homage to Ito, many of which used various drawing robots that I built during this time. The works below are my initial pass at Ensigns celebrating her life and work.
